Hot Stone therapy

The warm stones and the deep soothing massage relax the tissues and facilitate deep manipulations and relaxation.

The cool stones are used for a more stimulating effect.

• Stimulates the circulatory system, increasing blood supply to the area being treated, so providing nourishment to the skin and muscles and removing waste products.
• Warms the skin, relaxes the client and the pores and encourages the absorption of the product.
• The heat has a sedative effect on the nervous system

• Improves muscular aches and pains
• Retention of moisture in collagen and elastin fibres improves the elasticity of the skin.
• Improved lymphatic drainage reduces local oedema.
• Improves skin colour.
• Desquamates dead skin cells

*Cooled stones of smooth marble may also be used. The cool stones cause the blood vessels to constrict and stimulate the nervous system giving an invigorating effect

• Bruises, cuts or abrasions.
• Recent operations or injuries e.g. a fracture
• Recent scar tissue.
• Very thin or bony areas.
• Skin diseases or disorders.
• Circulatory disorders
• High blood pressure
• Any glandular swelling.
• Neuritis
• Sunburn
• Heart conditions *
