Holistic Therapy

Holistic therapy is a generic term for any treatment that is intended to treat the individual as a whole (mind, body and spirit).

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic healing technique,( the Greek word holos meaning ‘whole’) which aims to treat the individual as an entity, incorporating body, mind and spirit.

The aim of reflexology is to trigger the return of to homeostasis; a state of equilibrium or balance.

The art is to apply specific pressure technique which works on precise reflex points of the feet, based on the premise that reflex areas of the feet correspond with all the parts of the body. As the feet represent a microcosm of the body, all organs, glands and other parts are laid out in a similar arrangement on the feet.

Professional massage of the reflexes of the feet will establish which parts of the body are out of balance and therefore not working efficiently. Treatments can be given to correct these imbalances and return the body to an optimum state of health.

Reflexologists do not diagnose illness, they do not practice medicine or treat specific illnesses.

There are times when the therapist should not treat the client, when referral zones should be used( alternatives to the points on the feet, in the case of injury or disease and when the therapist should exercise caution.

The responsibility for the client rests with the therapist; who must use their skill, knowledge and common sense at all times.
